    Laptops

Hi Guys, with my 18th coming up i will have a bit of money to spend, and ive always wanted a laptop! And with me playing games less and less there is no need for my desktop (still play some games on my desktop, but litrally only twice a week) At the moment i cant spend more than £800, im just after a bit of advice really, as im not so hot on the laptop scene! If anyone can find me a Acer or Fujitsu Siemens laptop, then i can get them for cost price (ie, no vat) from work At the moment im looking at the ACER 1501LCe which is £785, or the Apple iBook 12" which is £799

    Any reccomendations are welcome

    Cheers,

    Craig

One thing I can promise about the iBook is that you'll get great battery life, and a very nice, intuitive OS.

The problem is the relatively weak graphics and non-upgradeability. Getting the HDD out is a right pain.

If you can get a nice Fuji/Acer Pentium-MII (what're those chips, Dothan rather than Banias, or vice versa? Never can remember - 2Mb L2 cache anyway) with a 5700 or 9600 gfx chip and widescreen....go for it!
    Well Hello!

I saw this on ebuyer http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/produ...duct_uid=63055
it costs £757 so it's under you budget and it's had good reviews so far. There are also several acer laptops on ebuyer.

Sounds nice. Personally the screen res is a bit low for my liking, but it's a good price and decent spec gfx card wise too

If it's not too late - consider the Apple iBook/Powerbook 12" with educational discount... Good laptops, good prices.

You SERIOUSLY should have considered The Dell 8600's and 9100's;-

    9100:

    P4 3.0 With HT
    512 333 ram
    9700 128mb
    60+ HD
    Widescreen 15" 1200x800+
    ALl the usual...

With tax off it came to £1028 When I did it. The better option imho.
    Signatures are stupid
