    athlon 64's need special drivers ?

    Hi,

    about to go build an athlon 64 rig for the first time and won't have internet access there...

    any drivers or anything specific to the 64 chips that i need ??

    ok cool thanks..

    as got essential stuff..

    windows cd
    SP2
    motherboard drivers / sound drivers / graphics / lan etc
    and then a few extra bits of software think that's it really...

    i hear sp2 is a bit of a rubbishrubbishrubbishrubbish but maybe it'll work best under a fresh winxp install with formated drives

    if you have a adsl modem or anything make sure you have drivers for them, dont make the mistake i once made

    You only need special drivers if you are actually running a 64 bit OS.
    As has been said if you are running plain 32 bit XP then the standard 32 bit drivers are what you use.
