What the hell is winbond ?
Winbond is the chip maker :)
Really ?
Yes, really. http://www.winbond.com/e-winbondhtm/.../b_2_g_1_a.htm :)
Weird
Its called Twinmoss memory with winbond onboard
Twinmoss make the pcb, the chips are from winbond.
Yup, TwinMOS make the memory, but the chips themselves are made my winbond.
I'd like to again emphasise this, TwinMOS :)Quote:

mine are :)
How do i find out ?
slow up.....I'm confused now too :(
The actual CHIPS...the black clever things, kinda square shaped, with lots of electric contacts sticking out of them.....they are made by WINBOND
But TwinMos make the PCB, and then nail the WINBOND chips onto the PCB...and rom then on its what we all know as MEMORY.
Right?
If so, why is it so good? I thought people like Micron made the chips.....Samsung etc...
is WINBOND better, or faster or what?
yeah winbond were/are the best chips.. and if you read the code and the last bit says BH-5 means they are very good, overclocks well etc etc
i hope i'm correct :p
heard you can run a lot of juice through them something stupid like 2.2 volts or something !!!
winbonds BH-5 revision of the "chips" was well known for its low latencies and speeds - so they were ideal for all the overclockers out there and we're used by the "main" names i.e OCZ, Corsair etc to make their best performng modules.
BH-5's are no longer produced, but the new chips that Corsair use on their XMS-XL are actually Samsung. These run in latencies the same as the BH-5's used to do and therefore as you can probably guess people want these "chips" on their memory sticks now.
I got my BH-5 chips this morning, 2x256 Corsair XMS3500 v1.1's! Well know to do over 250MHz with timings of 2-2-2-5. Can't wait to stress them out with my new LanParty NFII Ultra-B! :D
got it...I learned stuff today :)
cheers
I learn something new every day. We probably ALL do! :D
Standard ddr voltage is 2.5v winbond like 2.8v and upwards to 3.2v :)Quote:

Shame that Winbond pulled out of making memory chips for RAM but the mass market wanted cheaper rather than better :(
whoops sorry wasn't thinking... got a bit mixed up yeah ... those volts are correct ignore stupid me :p
