Its a portable chassis that happens to look cool, that you whack an old HDD into, and it allows it to be used as a USB2 portable drive :)

and as I just got a new 120 Gig drive ordered for Sair's PC, that'll leave a 30 gig spare...

and then...BOOM...it turns out to need a power brick AND a kettle lead :(

So close and yet so far :(

Looks so good though, and our Kezzy boy has one of those, I believe. He's rather chuffed with his. Also, s'only 25 notes, can't be bad, can it?

Even despite those they are pretty nifty! Got one for my sis in law with 160gb drive. Quick and useful. One of these portable hdd will always need external power.

The larger the drives a caddy supports the more likely the drive will use more than the peak 6w a USB port can supply. Limitation of the technology really...

but WHY IS THE POWER SUPPLY NOT BUILT IN AND THIN? Part of the casing. It doesnt need MAJOR JUICE...its not a PC....its a HDD and a pcb.

And a KETTLE LEAD.....plleeeeeeeze

That is old fashioned, I give you. Even kettles don't need kettle leads these days. :D

Ah true - they could have used a barrel plug adaptor for the amount of amps that a HD takes...

I'm going to get one - for 25 quid, you cant really go wrong :D Looks pretty nice too.

Oh whinge whinge whine whine bitch cry :P It needs a kettle lead. Get over it :P It's a highly regarded hard drive enclosure. And it's cheap! Far cheaper than most.

I love mine. Yeah the kettle lead/transformer is an issue, but I reckon a bit of healthy modding could sort that one out :)

the power supply allmost makes it, "not really portable" afterall its hardly a put in your pocket size :(

i got a usb to ide cable with power molex jobby thing for 15 quid all in, its hella usefull! i can take any dvd rom to places and dudes whop aint got a dvd rom drive, jst plug iot in and get using, ssma ewith hdd's highly recomend it :) , no drivers needed either for xp

40-50Mb/s? But problem with firewire is not every PC has external firewire ports...

But mines does and most these days should :)
