.. yet quiet CPU and case fans?? I have looked into water cooling but it is too expensive... anyone?

Buy a fan controller and make your own choice.
Yeah... but I don't want skimping on cooling, as I will be using the system increasingly as I am putting my TV, Radio, DVD, Hi-Fi everything through it... I also don't want a jet engine sound either...
Get 120mm fans. You can get convertors if you only have 80mm mountings.
What do you guys reckon of this... Q-TEC beast
Do you reckon it will be okay? And could I use a fan controller to control it?
Generally the panaflo's are pretty good for the noise - Dorothy Bradbury has been selling them for a looong time now... (http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Panaflo-Fan)
The Q-Tec? - It'll explode...
Now go away before I taunt you a second time.
Explode?
Q-Tec PSUs have a nasty habit of exploding and taking out half of your system with them. It doesn't exactly inspire confidence for the rest of their products.Originally Posted by icp222

Ah... I may well stay away from them then.. Ty... but I still haven't found the ellusive silent CPU fan/cooling system (that's still good)... I have a 2.8HT 478pin btw...

Its so hard to get a quiet machine and at the same time a cool machine.
I use a 120mm on the front of the case at 5V and two 80mm at 12V (1600,RPM) on the side and at the back. Its not too loud and i keeps the case pretty cool.
I think the best plan is to use low rpm fans or a fan controler is also good.
The standard Coolermaster 80mm fans are quiet, as are the Panaflow as mentioned.
Vantec Tornado for all out cooling power, but quiet they are not.
Anyone know of the Jet 7 - how noisy is that... it looks a tad loud?

If your looking for quietness .. dont get a Jet7, they can't be quietish on lowest but there not very powerful then.Originally Posted by icp222
I would recommend the Zalman coolers if you want it quiet - there quite big but that doesn't really matter with a P4
