    Question 23" IPS Monitor - Sub £145

Could anyone recommend a 23" IPS Monitor for less than £145? I have found these so far, but not sure if they are the best for the price range:

    Re: 23" IPS Monitor - Sub £145

Dell U2311 or Dell U2312 - can't go wrong with either of these. Shop around and you'll hit your budget. If you can go slightly more then the U2412 is very good too and at 1920x1200 offers slightly more screen real estate.

Reviews on www.tftcentral.co.uk are in-depth and should help as a useful guide to steer you to the gems while avoiding the duds.

I bought my lad one of these last year : http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...d=1425&subcat=

Stand is a bit wobbly so now VESA wall mounted, but the rest is superb.

    Re: 23" IPS Monitor - Sub £145

Both the monitors in the OP share the same IPS panel AFAIK with the Dell, and people seemed to be pleased with them.

This one is also worth considering too:

    Here is a review:

    http://translate.google.co.uk/transl...ed=0CDIQ7gEwAA

However, the Dell U2312HM can be had for around £155:

You can get Nectar points too.

    Re: 23" IPS Monitor - Sub £145

it's not just the panel - the processing plays a part too. No point having the same panel if the innards then give it an input lag of 120ms say. It was interesting to read a comparison review between an LG and a Dell with both using the same panel but behaviour and response were very very different due to the processing in the two, as were some of the colour settings (though presumably this last one could be calibrated out if the manufacturer allows enough user adjustment control).

really happy with my Dell U2311. If I can wangle it with my wife I'll get a 2412 or maybe even 2712. It's Christmas after all....

    Re: 23" IPS Monitor - Sub £145

Remember, the Dell is 37% more expensive and both monitors have overdrive with the Dell being more agressive in its implementation. Here is the review of the Dell by the same website:

    http://www.prad.de/en/monitore/revie...l-u2312hm.html

    IPS234V

    U2312HM

The review site appears to rate them quite similar for responsive.

I am using an older monitor which uses a panel which probably has worse response times. TBH,it seems fine with the on-line FPS games I play.

The more important aspect of the Dell for me ,is that it has a better stand which is adjustable, which is why I would get it.

    Re: 23" IPS Monitor - Sub £145

oh i was just talking in general terms - not specifically about the monitors in this thread. the other good thing about the Dell U series is the 3 yr Premium Panel no dead pixel/sub pixel guarantee.

The adjustable stand of the Dell would be worth the premium alone for me.

I'd say go with the original LG which you picked out. An IPS from a respectable brand at that price is a great deal, and you're unlikely to notice a huge difference spending an extra £40 on the Dell.

    Re: 23" IPS Monitor - Sub £145

I think that I will add my 2c, if OP hasn't already made up his mind.

I own an LG IPS225V, previous gen from IPS234V (Brought Xmas 2011 for £110 on amazon) It is, for me at least, a decent and acceptable monitor.

Only one problem that I think that CAT has mentioned

If you want adjustability from the included stand - RUN AWAY! The model that I have does not adjust at all, it is literally just a stand which you bolt into the main screen, no height/angle options whatsoever. I am not sure if they have changed for this years model but I doubt it.

Other improvements, I am not sure about, but hopefully I helped at some point.

    Regards,

    EDIT:

Oh and both monitors have a 3 year manufacturer warranty.
That power button on the new LG is ugly :`(
LG actually labelled the buttons on the monitor this time around (yay), but the Dell doesn't seem to.

Really nice looking monitor, I'm looking to get 3 of those to run Eyefinity they have a great display although they are a bit expensive.
