Can I improve the range/responsiveness of my bluetooth keyboard & mouse?
I have a Microsoft Wireless Entertainment Keyboard 7000 & Wireless Laser Mouse 8000, the range & responsiveness is lousy now I have my PC running through the TV & sit on the sofa.
Also I have always had to wait a minute or two after Windows has booted to the desktop before I can use them, even though I have an SSD.
Will a new Bluetooth Dongle with a better range help?
Will a Bluetooth 4.0 dongle connect quicker although my keyboard & mouse are bluetooth 2.0?
This one any good?

Thank you

Where is your current bluetooth dongle located? If it's internal then you're stuck, but if it's just a USB one then try it on one of the front ports of the computer, or get a cheap USB extension lead and blu-tack it somewhere with line of sight.
Power profiles for the device / dongle may be having more of an effect than anything else. My g/f has a bluetooth keyboard and mouse and the keyboard keeps going to sleep. Press a key to wake it up, wait a few seconds until it pairs and then type. Haven't tried it yet but if you can disable the sleep it should only have to connect once (mash some keys on startup so it does...). And you may want to invest in rechargeable batteries if it does work...

I doubt it, there is one review on amazon -
"This is supposed to be a wireless keyboard but it only works very close to the receiver and a few of the keys you have to mash over and over before they work. This is not just my opinion. I read other people having this opinion on sites like office depot and took the chance to buy it anyway. That was a bad risk because it worked even worse that those reviews claimed. The mouse is ok, but imagine if n's and b's didn't show up when you type unless you held the key down just right or hit them over and over. This keyboard never should have left quality control at microsoft that is if they have quality control"
I would check whether its the keyboard or dongle first by taking both keyboard and mouse and see if they lose range at the same distance, if one works at 6 feet and the other at 12 feet, then its the mouse or board at fault. I know that my old keyboard/ mouse Logitech MK320 in every single room even my front garden with the pc in the rear bedroom, yea I was board.

Bluetooth should have a cracking range (wireless headphones with my phone let me wonder round the office), I wonder whether they've skimped on the dongle or device?
I guess you could try another dongle, or see how good the returns policy is from where you got them.
I would also recommend a Logitech set, I also have the MK320 currently and happily used other Logitech wireless sets before.

Buy a dongle with a 100m range perhaps the one you have is only good for 10m
