I've been wanting a DVD burner so when I saw this deal of the day here: NEWEGG , I wondered if it's a good DVD burner to get? The price is obviously a factor, so could someone who has more knowledge with this stuff tell me the difference between dual layer DVD burners, and the plus and minus signs etc. Thanks
When I was looking around about 4 months back, the Plextor (expensive) Pioneer and NEC units seemed to be the most popular. I got a Pioneer 107; it's been excellent. The LiteON does seem cheap, but then DVD burners are all cheap these days. I'd spend the little extra money on a bigger known brand, but then I'm sure someone with experience of the LiteON might feel different?
I wouldn't get to hung up on the '12x' speed, as the expense of such media (like DL, too) can make these drives seem poor value. I use Ritek G04 media, which bought in bulk is dirt cheap; never had a bad burn yet.
