Windows 8 and gaming keyboards
I'm having a bit of trouble with my Microsoft Sidewinder X4 Keyboard. The problem is that Windows 8 sees the keyboard has another HID device, so it works fine in Windows 8 until you try to use the macro keys at the side - they worked fine on Windows 7.
Is there another keyboard that does work with Windows 8?
Re: Windows 8 and gaming keyboards
I just bought a Logitech G710+ gaming keyboard. Lovely, mechanical keyboard. Comes witrh Windows software.
Cons? Needs 2 USB slots (HID controls the usual keyboard functions, and needs 1 on it's own for the macro stuff!). VERY expensive...
Re: Windows 8 and gaming keyboards
Out of curiosity I take it you did have the Mouse and Keyboard Center installed for the X4 under W8?
Re: Windows 8 and gaming keyboards
Indeed I did. There's no Windows 8 specific download - one x64 (because that's what I'm using) file fits Windows 7 and 8 systems. Worked fine under 7.
Re: Windows 8 and gaming keyboards
Any Logitech (including G710+) are fine as the use Logitech Gaming Software, which is fully compatible with Windows 8.

Er..yes, that why I bought one! :)
