My sister bought one on ebay. She had the chance to get a Fujitsu Lifebook B112 for £99 from http://www.lowcostcomputer.co.uk/hom...used%20laptops but they were out of stop by the time she phoned me. it seemed like a nice little machine, sub notebook with a 8" touch screen which ways half of a normal laptop.
i may have one which is good enough for what you want it for its a p2 with 64mg ram your for about £120

The only snag with a S/H laptop is Battery life. You gonna have access to power in lectures?
You could be looking at the same sort of money as your entire budget for a replacement battery.
Considered a PDA with some sort of Notepad functionality? Or a good old fashioned mini tape recorder?
Now i know this may be seen as a bit controversial, (especially posting it what is essentially a gadget and technology forum,) but whats wrong with using a pen and paper for notes in lectures??

paper can get ruined pens can run out (lots of bad things can happen) well i guess laptops are the same.

and also for readin the notes........honestly tell me you don't find it easier and easier to take in typed notes rather than written? thats even if you're reading good handwriting, mine is a bag of sh*t lol
Daymonkey can you pm me details of that lappy?
my hand writing is so bad half thew time i cant read it like, so its b easier to study from
Not only that but I imagine like me alot of hexusites can type faster than they can write.
Also digital notes can be searched/sorted backed up easier etc.
We had a bloke at uni on our course who did all his notes on a laptop, bloody annoying for those that sat around him, clicking and clacking away. Most lecturers had pre-printed notes, could then add little extra bits that came up during discussions. Some places (not where I was) also provide class notes/guides you can download, that way you get any diagrams as well. Problem is whats offered is location and lecturer dependant, my mate had electronic notes at Canterbury.
try looking at an old ibook /powerbook
a bit more than £150 [my ibook was £220] but its ace for typing on. had to get a new batt tho ($100 US from ebay ~£60)
sorry shogun it has now gone bu i may be getting another on ei will keep you posted if you want.
