    Logitech MX518 dodgy right click

    Hi

All of a sardine my right click on my Logitech MX518 has started to make a strange sound (not the usual click, more like a cracking sound) and feels like something is loose. DOesn't happen all the time, but seems to be getting more frequent now

Anyone have any experience with this? Should I send my mouse back for RMA? I have had it for about 5 months or so...

i guess you've probably broken a little clip or bracket inside the mouse case - i'd probably RMA it if i were you, i know it'd annoy me, i like things to work perfectly! it's defo under warranty still so it won't be an issue.

if it doesn't annoy you - keep it!

Open mouse (invalidates warranty) - Clean inside, possibly stick the cover back into the little clip properly.

    Job done.

    Happens on the MX700's too.
(Not happened on my MX510 yet tho)

Re: Logitech MX518 dodgy right click

Sorry about a ~½ decade bump, I hope/assume this board doesn't have strict thread necromancing guidelines. Anyways, my MX518 has started behaving the same way. The right click makes a weird sounds, it's the click mechanism is covered in Coca-cola or something, it's the "double shutter" sort of sound, if you guys feel me. I've started investigating which stickers to remove to get to the actual screws for cleaning. Has anyone here had success?

Hi Gew, welcome to the board.

Contact Logitech http://www.logitech.com/en-gb/suppor...port-contactus, they have awesome customer support, before you start to unscrew anything. They may just send you a replacement, your only requirement to cut off the end of the mouse cord and post it to them.

Re: Logitech MX518 dodgy right click

Thanks for your warm welcome, vinnyT.

Actually, I got really annoyed, so I couldn't help myself. I unscrewed it.
The Youtube video below helped me sorting the different pieces out.

The weird noise still remains, though. So no luck there.
I'm thinking about giving the mouse a real bath in a bucket of hot water.
Most electronics doesn't care, as long as you let it try completely.
Any thoughts or suggestions? My warranty has most definitely run out.

Re: Logitech MX518 dodgy right click

I've found Logitech very helpful in replacing mice before, even just out of warranty. I guess if it's 5 years old there'd be no chance though...
