Hi guys,
As title suggests, does anyone know a half decent tablet that has built in Ethernet? Either via docking station or built in? I have found the Samsung slate, but it is almost £1200 with the docking station.
Cheers guys :)

Might be worth looking at ethernet via a usb adapter and docking station. Have read a few comments of the Nexus working with ethernet via a USB OTG cable, so assume other android tablets would work as long as they support USB OTG.
I had an old Elonex etouch 1000ET tablet that actually had a mini ethernet port with adapter. Cost me about £80 from a CEX, iirc. Wasn't a great tablet though! If you can pick one up with the adapter though it might do the job - depends what you want it for...?
I'd've thought USB OTG + an adapter would be your best bet. The Ainol Novo 7 Flame has USB OTG and comes with a micro to USB A adapter which should let you use any USB ethernet adapter - it's usually less than £150 and very well specced (1280x800 IPS screen, 1.5GHz dual core Cortex A9. 1GB DDR3)
If you can find one of those £50 Archos 80 Cobalt tablets that Tesco had on sale last month, those work with some of the generic USB Ethernet adapters as well (via a std. micro USB OTG cable).
Just go to amazon and type in the size of tablet you want and most of them have Ethernet adapters :L
You won't get a really good one for cheap due to people wanting their tablets to be thin.
The 80 cobalt where £49 but that was only a boxing day offer, i only know this because i actually work as a tesco tech advisor at my local store. But to be honest they are not that good and they dont have ethernet or a usb port. Plus the screens are not that good either
If I can take a step back, why do you need an ethernet adaptor?
If you are hacking something up, then there are plenty of cheap media players and NAS boxes around. Having a tablet tethered on a cable really isn't what most people want.
The Cobalt has a micro USB port, you can connect an OTG cable to that and then a USB memory stick, a USB memory card reader or even an USB Ethenet adapter to that. The cobalt is nothing amazing and it is certainly not worth the £100 Tesco want for it now, but for £70 or less it is not a bad buy.
The HUKD Archos 80 Cobalt owners thread, discussing its various short comings, can be viewed here.
I obviously can't speak for the OP, but I have started using my tablet for troubleshooting network problems at customer sites. I use my Thinkpad a lot less these days when out and about.Quote:
