    The shades of pink and orange they use look quite similar in bad lighting. I could have continued using the headset like that but I didn't buy a surround sound headset to use stereo sound.

    Sorry, what I meant to ask was; what exactly did you plug in to where when the noise stopped?

    I did everything the same as usual except for accidentally plugging the pink 3.5mm pin into the orange 3.5mm pin and vice versa. As a result, I could no longer get surround sound.
