    SCSI switchbox? do they exist

    just a quick question peeps.

    without getting my soldering iron out, can you get SCSI switch boxes?

    at work we have 1 industrial sized scanner & 2 PCs, both PCs run different software, but both need access to the scanner. (its a long story why the 2 software packages can't run on just 1 machine but beleive me, this avenue has been exhaustively explored already!)

    the scanner connects vie external SCSI cable to either of the PCs, in the course of each day the SCSI cable is swapped from 1 PC to the other a few times which ends up with the SCSI cable pins getting bent & an hour's downtime while i drive to maplin to get a new cable

    so...can you get something akin to a KVM switch for SCSI devices which would assist with this problem? (or should i just buy shares in my local maplin)
    if it ain't broke...fix it till it is

    No hope of getting access to the scanner over a network?

    I can see it causing all sorts of termination issues. Tried google?
    PHP Code:
    $s = new signature();
    $s->sarcasm()->intellect()->font('Courier New')->display();

    Yes, they do exist - there'a a bunch called Paralan that do them if you can find a reseller in the UK, the SW1 sounds like the jobbie.
