Is this laptop a good deal?

Im off to uni in October and am going to be buying a laptop, am looking to spend around £600-£800. This is the one I am currently considering:

Does this look good to everyone? I am definitely considering this one because it has a decent CPU, lots of RAM, decent soundcard (am going to be using this as my music source with external speakers), decent GFX card and plenty of ports/ connectors.

    Any help appreciated!

Oh it does look nice, but in that price bracket you may be able to squeze some extra juice..

Dare I say it, DELL (Please dont hurt me god) 's "factory outlet" have some nutty bargins on there p4 and centrino laptops.. you should check it out

That laptop is very nice though, but it isn't to power friendly

you sure that 40 gb is gonna be enough storage, seems a bit small to me.
i personally know lots of people that have bought laptops for uni and have not really looked at the storage space and filled it three quarters the way through there course , if its enough for you then thats ok but it is something worth considering.

    ask yourself this question first

do you really NEED a laptop for uni?

99% of uni halls will accomadate a full sized PC, and if your in halls you will have the uni network for transfering files to and from the labs

I would consider getting a cheaper [£3-400) laptop for taking notes in lectures and using on the train etc, theres nto much point in getting a top spec laptop really unless you want to do video editing or games on it
    just mho tho

Thanks for the help guys! Good point Spud1 but I live near Oxford and going to Durham, quite a trip really and if for some reason I could not get a lift up/home then a laptop can be taken home on the train with my other stuff, not a PC!

Ive found that whatever laptop you look at theres always one or more components that dont quite exceed expectations, in this case the CPU is not amazingly fast and 40gb is not huge, however, it does have decent RAM,sound and GFX cards, great connectivity and price etc. I think I should be fine on 40gb (I've been surviving on 13gb on this computer!)

Special thanks to Nichomach for finding a cheaper price! I thought id found the lowest

    Cheers guys!
