Question about IC7 VTT

After seeing what needs to be done to perform this mod from malves site, I only have one question, so hopefully someone will know.

This mod requires you to cut a trace on the motherboard.

In that picture it points to a white border surrounding the mosfet. Is that the trace or simply an outline? I thought traces were the colourless lines that looked like they were inside the board.

Anyone know if those white lines are traces or is the picture wrong?
