How do you flash the bios on a shuttle?

I have one of the very first bios versions and I see here there have been lots of updates, how do you go about flashing a bios on a SN41G2

Visit Shuttle.com and look for the BIOS updates for you model. There will be instructions on there how to bios flash there will be 2 options usually a Windows based tool and a bootable tool. It is recommended by the community to use the bootable dos version for stability over the windows version.

Yes, check out sudhian forums at sudhian.com.

There was a guy who made a boot cd with all the shuttle BIOS on and you may even find a USB based method on there.

i'm up for tring the windows version as i have not put any data on the shuttle yet, what sorts of things can go wrong mate?

It's not the data to be worried about if a BIOS flash fails! It can corrupt the BIOS chip and will possibly require a new BIOS chip which will mostlikely result in a RMA for a new mobo - I have heard of cases.

What's the worst that could happen check sudhian forums for more info.

You'll want the sub forum "Shuttle XPC and Barebones" i think its called i dont have access to it tho at work

those a good fourms for SFF, i thought about flashing mine, but have never got round to it, i don't really need to... but maybe!

Personally I now work on the basis that "if it works then don't fix it" since most problems i find occur when trying to improve something that already works fine. I just check the BIOS' and see what new features there are, if i need them and if there are any issues with the new BIOS.
