NF7-S problems
Built up a new system pretty routine stuff for my dads mate that wants it for an internet/corel machine, plug everything in like i've done loads of times go to boot for the first time and everything powers off after about 2 seconds leaving 2 led's on the motherboard on and a rather annoying siren noise
Any help would be muchos appreciated guys as i've not run into this problem before
-
The siren noise means that the CPU is overheating or the voltage is out of spec(don't quite know what that means but the manual mentions it)
Have you reseated the heatsink?
-
Feel really stupid now, the hsf was on the wrong way up
-
Huh? You mean the actual fan was blowing the air the wrong way?
Don't worry, we've all done silly things at some point. Welcome to the club :)

think he means that the step in the base wasnt over the cam box - means that the HSF isnt flat on the core - if touching at all - lucky to survive with an athlon.
OR that the cable wasnt correctly orientated and the bios didnt detect a CPU fan and shut down

nah, being one of amd's standard ones it means the thermal paste's only in contact when the hsf is a certain way up. Now i've just gotta get this gfx card to output some kinda signal so I can put xp on it.
