Urgent: Geforce 6800 GT problems, help needed!

    Hi there,

I ordered components to build a pc from overclockers recently and today the parts arrived. The important specs are as follows:

    3500+ socket 939, MSI Neo 2 Platinum, crucial ballistix 512mb X2
leadtek winfast A400 geforce 6800 GT
    OCZ 470w psu, coolermaster wavemaster

So I've been putting the PC together...
I connected the PSU, the CPU, the ram and the Graphics card, and attempted to test if all was fine, but there was a high whining noise. So, I powered down the system, and realised I hadn't connected the 4-pin power supply to the 6800 GT.

I started it up again and that had fixed the whining noise. Unfortunately I still cant get the PC to output a signal to the screen!! I tried the VX910 with the DVI cable and the analog, and tried plugging it into an old 17 inch CRT, but no signal from any of them out of the graphics card.... i would try outputting from the motherboard analog output but i havent got the right cable for it (its a male socket, and all the cables i can find have male ends too)

Have I fried the graphics card somehow? Hopefully not as the fan still works, and it wasnt giving a signal the first time i plugged it in either. Any suggestions? Do I have to set something on the motherboard? Should I try another graphics card?

    Help me please

Ive had similar problems, usually overcome by swapping the graphics card for another, booting from that, then powering down and replacing the 6800GT. And remember to always put the power in.

Sometimes the new cards dont always seat right in the AGP slot make sure the card is completely in and only then can you screw it in place while holding it down.

remove graphics card from system and put it back in place...
when you remove the system and build it up outside the case, works it then ?
if so it can be a problem woth the motherboard that is hitting the case
