    Speakers & Soundcard

Currently looking at 2 sets of speakers and 2 sound cards.

    Soundcards:-
    Terratec Aureon 7.1 Space
Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS 7.1 THX

    Speakers:-
    Logitech Z-680 5.1
    Creative Labs Gigaworks 7.1Ch

I'm tempted to go for the Audigy and Z-680's. Read some reviews of both and think these 2 would compliment each other perfectly. But, the Gigaworks have a nice output and are 7.1. Also, the rear channel on my current soundcard is VERY low, you cant hear it much when all the other speakers are turned right down, which is why im also considering the Terratec.

Your thoughts please. Thanks in advance

Thanks Myth, but both those cards support a digital input, and 7.1 speakers. The specs of the speakers are similar, but the Gigaworks is 7.1 and the Logitechs are 5.1

Im already leaning to the Audigy but i'd like to know, should i go for 7.1 or 5.1? There also around the same price mark (£250).

I've also been thinking i could stick with my current audio setup and get a socket 939 mobo, AMD64 3500+, and ram, and have the P4 as a 2nd machine(something small and lightweight to take to lans). There again, im wanting to hold out til PCI-Express comes about....

Bah, i hate having money to burn.

yep, but only for about 10 mins.... they were set up next to the logitech... I decided to buy the Z-680 due to the base and clerity of the treble... both are great systems but I liked the logy better! no mater what you cant go wrong!

    Awards and reviews...

I just commented on the S750's in another thread. They are very good quality speakers, nice build to them, especially the sub, which is bloody massive, and a nice foot warmer.

Sound quality is superb for pc speakers, cant comment on how they fair against the Z680's because I havn't heard them. myth you stated that they have better treble clarity and I think I know what you mean. I've heard a little distortion on some high trebles in MP3's however I havn't tested with dvd audio which is what these speakers are designed for.
