    Re: Recommended keyboards/mice ?

    Now it's as follows:

    Microsoft Sidewinder X4 : £35
Thermaltake Challenger : £35 from Scan
    Logitech G110 : £40
    Logitech Illuminated Keyboard : £50
Steelseries G6v or summing : £50 from asda

I can get a £15 Amazon voucher (maybe multiple) so I don't know if that means as I should go for one of the more expensive ones that'll then be in my budget, or get one of the cheaper ones for even cheaper.

    Re: Recommended keyboards/mice ?

Ok...sorry to keep posting in this thread....

MS Sidewinder X4 vs TT Challenger/Pro.

I'm guessing MS would have better support? I've seen some posts around that say that TT support is bad... has it improved at all?

I've removed the Logitec Illuminated as I think it's quite expensive for £50...especially seeing how it offers no "gaming" features.

For a good quality keyboard Cherry make some great quality stuff the best mouse i have ever used was an Evoluent designed to prevent any RSI and very comfortable to use.

Would you say that the keys on a G110 were laptop style?

I don't know what to pick out of the X4, Cherry, TT Challenger Pro or the Illuminated Keyboard....

Most people are saying MS or Logitech I guess.... But the last comment says cherry are quality.

I think that the added bonus of macros might come in handy, so I think either the X4 or the challenger pro. If I can try a X4 out, and i dont like it i'll probably get the Logitech Illuminated (I've heard bad things about TT service?)

The cherry is my backup basic keyboard. I don't think I will get it, unless 3 macro buttons on my mouse (G500) are enough (especially for Photo shop / Vegas)

I think the X4 is the one I'm gonna get.

But is the G500 a good mouse to get? I ask as it's increased to £45, and the G400 is much cheaper.

    Re: Recommended keyboards/mice ?

The G400 is fine (It's the legendary MX518 replacement). I imagine there's very little difference as far as being a mouse goes.

Not sure what you're after for a keyboard. Looks like illuminated keys. These don't tend to last that well; how long are you expecting this to stay in service? These are generally not at the quality end of the market, they're selling looks for £s. IMO you have three choices:

    1. You can go on looks (which may or may not work out well)
    2. You can go on price (at least you won't feel too bad if you decide to chuck it in 18 months)
    3. You can go on service (in which case you will buy Logitech)

    Ok then, G400 it is!

For the keyboard I - primarily - just want something that's good to type on. Everything else is bonus. Like I think the macro keys might be useful for me, but I'm not too bothered by illuminated keys. I'd last the keyboard to last as long as possible, but I've no idea how long they normally last etc....

    Re: Recommended keyboards/mice ?

I much preferred the MS X4 over the G110 but it's one of those things where it's pure preference. You're not going to go wrong with either.

The keys on the X4 felt better for me and I like the illumination.

You really need to try keyboards to decide.

G400 is a mouse? Unless you meant the Logitech G110 :-P

I would like to try them out of course, but i dont think there's many places I can - my best bet is probably PC world. I guess I could buy a few off Amazon and return the ones I don't like

The G110 is way to expensive for me really. The X4 is £35 which is a nice price point. There's also the Logitech Illuminated but that's £50 and it offered no macros or anti ghosting.

I've been told that Thermal take isn't good to get peripherals from

I found a new G500 for £36 on eBay. Worth me trying to get the price lowered, or should i have a go with the G500/400 first?

Any more opinions on G500 vs G400? :-P

Edit: been offered £34 for the G500. Sound ok?

The offer has gone now so it looks like I'm going to be getting the G400... what mat should I be looking at for it ?

Also, I finally bought the X4. It's a pretty quiet board, but I don't know if the keys feel a bit smaller than normal?? The only real problem with it (excluding the half lit shift key) is that it's pretty big, and it takes up pretty much the whole of the keyboard tray on my desk ;S Not sure if there's anything that can be done about that /

I've just noticed a weird mark on the 8 key. It's like the pain has come off a bit. http://goo.gl/jP2Or I guess it's not worth sending it back, but it is annoying to look at.
