I was going to upgrade my motherboard from abit an7 to MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum. I just noticed that the northbridge cooler is quite near the agp slot I have an x800 pro with ati silencer rev 4 on it would this cause heating problems with the rev 4 cooler above the NB one

If you are going S939 (or any AMD64 for that matter) get a 1MB cache chip if performance is important. If money is a concern get the cheapest 1MB Clawhammer S754 you can find. It will beat the 3500+ easily at less cost.

If you do decide to get S939 I'd stay away from the MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum. They have some problems and they absolutely hate double sided memory unless all you want to do is run it at 333 MHz. I got one to test and passed when I read right in the manual DS memory will not run at high speeds.

The MSI and Gigabyte NF3 boards are decent, but I'd try to get my hands on a DFI if you want to overclock seriously and don't want to vmod your motherboard. If you're vmodding they are all good. If you prefer VIA chipsets the K8V is decent if you don't overclock much. Stick to NF3 if you overclock seriously.
