    CpuCity Problems

    Hey.
Last october I ordered an Athlon 2500+ Barton processor from CpuCity, but a few weeks ago it gave out and a replacement was needed. I checked over CpuCity's returns policy and everything seemed to be in check for a replacement under warrantee, so I emailed them with my home adress and phone number and a note about why i was sending it. Sent it on Royal Mail Special delivery (tracked) and tracked the order online a couple of days later to find it had arrived.

That was about 6 weeks ago, and i've heard and received nothing from them. I've emailed them about 3 times since asking for an explanation but they don't even reply to say they it wasnt delivered to them or why they can't replace/return it...
i would expect them to at least say WHY, but it seems like nobody is listening.

    What should i do?

My suggestion would be to grab this:

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...ayphotohosting

And go pay them a visit!

p.s. Threatening people with paint is not big, and not clever.

(and yes, that link did come from the Paintball Overkill thread on the general discussions)

I know it's tempting to send emails and all but have you actually tried phoning them? Some companies are great about emails, but most arent, and generally you get things sorted a lot quicker if you give them a ring.

    WHAT???? A sensible suggestion!!?!?!?!

Yep, coaxing is the way to go, a pissed off customer is not going to help things go any quicker, but I think 6 weeks is a bit much.

I've already listed the phone number, perhaps that wasn't a BIG enough hint.....

Yup, I think the phone (it's that antiquated thing in the corner, with buttons and numbers and a long thin thing with a coiled cable, in case you're too used to using e-mails ) is your best bet. You could also try posting on their forums as well.

I had a Barton 2500 from CPUcity go earlier this year and got exactly the same treatment you have.
Moral of the story is not to buy from CPU city.

CPU City probably can't get them from AMD anymore so they can't replace it. If you go to AMD's site and check the current pricing they don't even have the 2500+ XP listed anymore.

    Time for an upgrade dude!

The 2500+ socket A Sempron is about $70.00 US.

I've had 3 CPU's from CPU City, never had a problem with them... Never heard of any problems with them either. Strange.

That really is weird. I got my XP-M 2500+ way back in the day and they seemed great. As suggested before, I would go post on theitr forums. Their mods used to be really helpful, giving times of new stock deliveries, stepping type etc. Maybe you are an isolated case, but you may be able to find other people with the same probs there and see what they did.

Honestly hope you get it sorted out. Let us all know how it goes

But I believe it is slower than the 2500+ Barton. Just to confuse everybody

The Semprons have a lower clock speed, and less cache than the equivalent Barton (i.e. a 2500+ Sempron has a lower clock speed and less cache than a 2500+ Barton), meaning that a replacement Sempron would be a downgrade, rather than an upgrade.
