Hi...
I am looking to upgrade from a Celeron 2.0Ghz to an AMD Athlon system. I would like to overclock this new system so my question is which is the best overclocker? the 2500+ or the 2600+?

Rig1: Asus A7N8X-X | AMD Athlon XP 2600+ @ 2200Mhz | Radeon 9800 Pro | Cooler Master Jet 7 | 512MB Samsung DDR400
Rig2: Abit NF7-S Rev 2.0 | AMD Athlon XP 2500+ | Cooler Master Aero 7+ | Skystar 2 DVB Card | 256MB Crucial DDR333
2500 MOBILE if you can find one out in malta.
Yup, the low voltage and unlocked multiplier make it the best Socket A overclocker. Of course, you could wait for Socket 939 (Athlon 63) to come down in price, and get one of those in a few months, which should give a nice boost in performance.Originally Posted by daniel_owen_uk

Unfortunately no one sells 2500 Mobile processors here in Malta so I guess the choice is limited to either 2500+ or 2600+ barton processors.

Nah, its all a big scam. AMD forgot to put a bit on the new processors, but it's too late to correct them all nowOriginally Posted by Kez
But yes, I meant Athlon 64!

There's not really much of a choice there, get whichever you want. It's fairly safe to say they are probably both more or less exactly the same.
To err is human. To really foul things up ... you need a computer.
