Cyborg R.A.T. 7 - opinions?
Hi everyone,
I am looking at gaming mice, and Cyborg's RAT 7 gaming mouse has drawn my eye. These are the features:
3 interchangeable palm grips
3 interchangeable pinkie grips
custom weight system
precision aim button
6400 DPI
4 custom DPI levels
3 macro modes
metal chassis
adjustable length and thumb angle

The features aren't really my main concern, nor is price, as i have found it for a good price already. my main questions are what it is like to use for gaming and regular pc use, and how long it lasts, as I don't want to pay for a mouse that will stop working after a month.
Thanks in advance!
Re: Cyborg R.A.T. 7 - opinions?
Hi
Funnily enough ive just bought one and i have found it fantastic so far. I upgraded from a Razer copperhead ive had for about 5 years and was worried about build quality so i took some advice from my clan buddies. One of them has had one for over 2 years and some have the Rat 5 and they have no issues with it either. It was and still is a bit strange to get used to and is bound to be when you have used something for a long time but i am getting the feel for it now. There is so much customization on the mouse you can set it up how you want it. The weight is good and feels heavy but not too heavy its hard to move around. For gaming i like the on the fly DPI which you can tweak as well and change to 4 settings at the press of a button and the sniper button is great for tighter aiming. I am getting more kills in vehicles on BF3 due to the DPI button and being able to aim more accuratly, the down side is having to switch back up to a higher DPI when you bail out of the vehicle otherwise your movement is really slow and i stress this is me not the mouse getting into the habit of switching but this is something i am getting more used to doing. Although ive only had it 4 days i would recommend one to you.
for general PC use its fine no better or worse than any other mouse.
Re: Cyborg R.A.T. 7 - opinions?
i thought it was an over engineered piece of crap and sent my rat9 back after 2 days.
Re: Cyborg R.A.T. 7 - opinions?
I was looking at that, but went with a Razor and have been very happy with the performance and quality.
I agree with Gonzo - over-engineered.
Re: Cyborg R.A.T. 7 - opinions?
Wonderful for us pinky draggers though, over-engineered as it may be, show me an alternative that has a pinky rest and is comortable to use and ill gladly give it a try.
Re: Cyborg R.A.T. 7 - opinions?
Pinky rest?! I think I know what you mean - but mine just rests on the desk! Now I feel I need a rest, damnit!
Re: Cyborg R.A.T. 7 - opinions?
I'd pay £10 for it, tops. A mouse is a mouse if it works it works. I use an e-blue Cobra mouse. I couldn't care if it has super aluminium space-metal or whatever these companies are trying to sell us, its to make people think it'll be fantastic so they can knick your monies! :) in my opinion!
Re: Cyborg R.A.T. 7 - opinions?
But that guy on COD keeps killing me - it can only be explained by superior hardware, right?!
Re: Cyborg R.A.T. 7 - opinions?
I really liked the RAT. I go more on feel than anything else, don't care what it looks like.
I would go with the Razer Deathadder, but I hate the piano shiny side - hard to keep a grip on. The RAT is a nice substitute.
Don't disagree that it's over engineered, but I don't care as long as it feels right and works :)
Re: Cyborg R.A.T. 7 - opinions?
IMHO it's a good Rat, and a joy to use. You won't be dissapointed if you get one.
Re: Cyborg R.A.T. 7 - opinions?
Ive been happy with mine, came from a Roccat Kone after the scrollwheel packed up. Not had any problems with it, plus I've found the thumbwheel to be a timesaver for me.

Went for it, got it for 62.99 at yoyotech, a half hour bus ride from home and decent prices compared to online, plus im never at home when the delivery guy shows up :p
