Are these considerable faster than the 800's as i am using one of them atm for a media pc and its okay but i can only play lowish bitrate films, was wondering if the 10k is happier with them?
Cheers

It should be, according to a review by mini-itx.com they can play really high bit-rate films just fine ;)
I'm planning on getting one of these, but i thought that Via had unveiled their newer chip?
I've got a Nemehiahrarer and it's fine for divx playback. I use mine as a flieserver/router/mediaplayer and it's great, no complaints at all.

much quicker than the 800, and quieter as well :)
(i've got an 800 machine)
It is far quicker than the 800 purely because of the hardware decoding for the DVD etc. The processors slightly faster too, its a large step up really although I can still easily find uses for my EPIA 800s. You will notice a massive difference for hardware decoding on the M1000 in comparision.Quote:

cool may have to go thru andf get one then. thanks for all of the replies.
is there anyway i can mod me procase2688 (from ultim8) to make it fit or will i need to getta new case?
Cheers

Well the problem with the case is, that you canĀ“t use the front connectors with a board of the M-Series.
The 2699 is build for the VIA EPIA M-Boards
The new chip has full speed fpu, whereas your 800 only has half speed fpu. Divx/xvid decoding uses fpu calculations so 400mhz vs 1ghz = big jump.
cool will get one bought one of these days,
Cheers all

Ordered myself one yesterday :D
I tell if i have any problems with any video playback ;)
How does that compare to the 900's? Does anyone know of any benchmarks?
hi, check www.epiacenter.com - board reviews all the way up to the 1.2ghz epia M2-12000s
