Ram Questions
Ok I’m having trouble with all this ram talk… can someone answer some questions for me please?
Why do the ram listed below have duel names and what do they mean? And why don’t they have there clock speed like ‘PC2100’ = 133?
PC3200 (DDR400)
PC2700 (DDR 333)
PC2100 ?
PC133 ?
PC100 ?
Please feel free to set me straight or help me out
I like to know what the last three are two, if anyone knows

Well the numbers PC3200, PC2700, and PC2100 denote the Ram's theoretical throughput in MB/s. IE PC3200 can potentially handle 3200MB/s or 3.2GB/s.
DDR means Double Data Rate and the numbers DDR400, DDR333 etc denote the data transfer speed in Mhz of the RAM. Ie twice the FSB.
PC3200/DDR400 RAMand PC2700/DDR333 RAM are the same thing just different ways of describing it.
PC133 and PC100 are older standards and the numbers denote the clock speed of the RAM. Ie the FSB
I'm a bit dusty on this so some of that might not be 100% correct but still may be of some help.

PC2100 operates at 266MHz | 2.1GB/sec
PC2700 operates at 333MHz | 2.7GB/sec
PC3200 operates at 400MHz | 3.2GB/sec
PC133 operates at 133MHz
PC100 operates at 100MHz

If you want to calculate bandwidth for RAM just do memory frequency * bus width. The bus width for main memory is 8 bytes so 266 * 8 = (roughly) 2100
