ive been searching since the last post

loads of sound cards say "5.1 surround sound and home cinema setup" but they all seem to have 5 sockets, i guess 1 is for a mic ?????

why has this system got 6 plugs to fit somewhere ???????

There is no standalone sound card which will take 5 seperate RCA plugs. It will have to go through an amp which would convert the 3 3.5mm plugs from your pc to 5rca jacks. What 5.1 kit did you pick up? It really should have everything that is needed in the kit.

It seems that you are confused about what you have purchased.

Would I be correct in saying that you have 6 individual cables (one for each speaker) which would normally be used to plug in the speaker set into a 5.1 amplifier which would recieve a signal from a source such as a DVD player or computer. The Amplifier would then process (decode) this signal and play it down the 6 availible channels.

In order to gain the full signal out of these speakers you would need to purchase a Home cinema amplifier and maybe even need to purchase an upmarket sound card with a digital out (Soundstorm mobo springs to mind) which would be a costly business.

Also do you only have 5 boxes with the system?

would it be something like this ????

    2 x Phono to 3.5mm Stereo

Adapter which allows you to plug 2 seperate phono plugs into a stereo 3.5mm jack socket. This will usually give you seperate left and tight audio outputs.
