Price Check: Fujitsu Siemens Server
Hi All,
I've got a Fujitsu Siemens Econel 100 S2 server. It came with a low powered CPU E2160, but I replaced it with a Q6600 SLACR which is officially supported, and upped the RAM to 4GB. I was using it as a ESX server, but it's now surplus to requirements. It's got a 500GB Samsung spinpoint.
1st question: What's it worth.
2nd question: Should I pop the E2160 back in, or sell it with the Q6600 SLACR
I'm not expecting megabucks, but I have literally no idea how much it's worth. I need shot quickly as b0redom Jnr v3.0 arrived on Wednesday and we need the space!

Re: Price Check: Fujitsu Siemens Server
I think I remember these machines, they where really cheep to buy a few years back. I think I paid about £200 for mine about 4 years ago! I have no idea what its worth now but I wouldn't pay more than £100 inc P&P for it with the E2160 and I may be being a little generous there!
I would sell the Q6600 on its own
Re: Price Check: Fujitsu Siemens Server
So you reckon what? £100 for the machine with the Q6600 in? Really I can't be bothered disassembling it unless I absolutely have to.
Re: Price Check: Fujitsu Siemens Server
Well, the Q6600 currently goes for about £40 alone on eBay.
Whether people will notice or care about what processor the server comes with... I'm sceptical. I reckon it wouldn't change the value too much whether it was the E2160 or the Q6600, and also a fair few buyers might be more interested in low power than anything else.
