Talking Complete PC Build - Advice Please

    ok guys...

sold my old system before buying a house.... now i'm in my house and have some spare cash to build meself a complete new system...

ideally i'd like to run this system as built for the next 12-18 months.. i'm not that bothered by the latest technology, but i've gone past the stage of building and upgrading every time a new game comes out...

my amusement of choice is CS/Mechwarrior/GTA 3 & VC/IL2 so nothing that would warrant a 9800 pro or 3Ghz proccy...

Not to fussed whether Intel or AMD... but think AMD as cost is an issue

Budget around £1k.. but maybe a little more if its worth it...

The only stipulations are: it has to look pretty... therefore
    Coolermaster TAC-T01 Wavemaster Case
    Coolermaster Alloy Keyboard
    Silver 15" TFT
    at least 512mb Ram
    at least 120gb HDD

i've put together for a total of £950ish
    15" Samsung IM15BB TFT
    AMD XP2500+ Barton CPU
    Abit NF7-M nForce2 Mobo
    512Mb Corsair PC3200
    120Gb Maxtor 8Mb Cache 7200 HDD
    128Mb Radeon 9600 Pro
    Coolermaster TAC-T01 Wavemaster Case
    Ennermax 350W PSU
    Coolermaster Alloy Keyboard
    Pioneer DVD Slot
    Microsoft Explorer 3 Optical

    so guys... over to you

The NF7-M has onboard gfx, so go for a NF7-S v2.0 instead. Apart from that, it looks very good. I'm not too sure if that TFT has DVI input, but if it does then you're pretty much complete (your GFX card can output DVI, may as well use it).

personally i'd ditch the tft and get a good crt and use the extra money to get 1gb of ram or a second hand 9700np/pro

other than that it looks a damn nice spec.

I'm with Knox......ditch the flat screen, get a Radeon 9800 or 9700 Pro.

Its gonna do the job for along time.

h'okays... lost a little bit on this thread...

re: ditchin the TFT.... Zak m8e.. You read my thread on my Surround Sound Setup and the wonderful hiding of the wires!!.. well now her 'thoughts' are creeping into my computer room.. and it has to be pretty... non of this big monitor stuff, but pretty.. so its TFT & a CM Wavemaster Case & Keyboard.. I can put what I want inside it tho

thats why I downgraded a little to the 9600 Pro...

    Advice up to now:

Ditch the Abit NF7-M and go for the NF7-S v2.0
Ditch the 512Mb Corsair PC3200 and go for 2x256Mb Kingston
and there was a question on the performance of the Ennermax against a make I cant remember... anyone got any reviews on PSU's? kinda a comparison thingy?
but if I can get a 9700pro on a special, I'd be inclined to stretch the budget a little...
