Mid range Laptop for £600-800 needed

Looking for a Laptop for a business contract. It has to have a P4 CPU, 256MB's of memory, 20GB Hard Disk and either Windows 2000 Pro or Windows XP Pro.

There any good deals around at the moment?

    What Laptops do people recommend?

Is there any particular manufacturer to buy/avoid?

    Cheers

I am gonna go out on a limb here and expect the odd flame or two, get your backside to PC World (forgive me father for I have sinned) for 800 quid you could get a compaq 2.8Ghz laptop with cdrw/dvd combo 40gb HD in their sales, its that time of year when they are expecting new stock so you could get a last years model laptop for a bargin price and it will be of excellent spec.

Because unless battery life and wireless networking are crucial, he's going to get much more bang per buck going the P4 route if his top whack is £800.

    HP Nx9010

    Dell Inspiron 5160
(for this one knock the servicing down to 1 yr Collect and Return, and upgrade to XP Pro, comes in at £830 inc VAT and del.

As an aside, if budget is a factor you NEED to check the Dell Outlet.

FJ, couple of reasonable machines there, but he's after a 2K/XP Pro machine - I assume since he's needing to talk to a Windows Domain - and the last two certainly are XP Home boxes. BTW the Dabs link just goes to the main laptop page at Dabs.
