Shuttle SZ77R5

Hi,

Am currently looking to build a small, but powerful PC with the ideal it has to be quiet also. Current thinking is:

Shuttle SZ77R5
Intel 3rd Generation Core i7-3770K CPU Ivy Bridge
32GB RAM (not sure if to go for 4x 8GB or 2x 16GB - and which type)
Not fussed about a graphics card as the built-in should be ok as I'm not using it for games - but will use it for encoding and converting videos (i.e. mkv to mp4).
I also think I should replace the case fan to a more quiet option.
256GB SSD - maybe the OCZ Technology 256GB Vertex 4 SSD.

I will be running VM's for development purposes, hence the CPU choice.

Any suggestions on the build, or better options out there?

I decided against the i7, thus saving around £100. Not sure about if I really need a GPU? I would spend around £100 if I could get a big performance improvement and obviously, it has to fit into the case. Any input to this would be great.

Any comments before I press the order button?

The K series CPUs lack IOMMU. HandBrake will is getting OpenCL support at some point too.

Thanks for the reply. I plan to ditch VM side on the actual PC and utilise my server which is stored in a cupboard for this

Is that SSD notably better than the vertex?

And re. openCL, are we talking a dedicated GPU? I would be prepared to spend around £100 (excl. vat) for one as I have a massive library of HD videos and a large collection of DVD's to convert - something to make this quicker would be a massive gain. And going forward, I might like to play the odd game or 2

I would go for the Samsung and Crucial SSDs over the OCZ ones TBH.

About OpenCL,it would run better on a dedicated graphics cards,especially an AMD one. However,the OpenCL version of HandBrake is not out AFAIK.
