Which skt 939 mobo?

I am trying to decide which skt 939 mobo to buy with my next upgrade. I am looking at the Asus A8V, MSi K8N Neo and the Abit AV8. I will be installing a 3500 on it and 1Gb of OCZ pc3200 ddr. Also which silent or near silent cooler would you guys recommend for this cpu?

Personally I'd go for the Asus board, just from past experience with them. Apparently the A8V doesnt clock as well as the AV8, but the chip isnt a great clocker anyway. Also, for a few quid extra on top of the OCZ 3200 (assuming you going for the platinum) you can get a gig of Corsair XL Pro (2-2-2-5).

For the coolers you can pick up a ThermalRight SLK-948U for £24. It comes without a fan, so you can stick what you like on it.
I'd recommend a YS-Tech 92mm for £6 - 50cfm, 31dba. the Zalman 92mm is actually more noisy than that, shifts less air and is more expensive

Would an 80mm Noiseblocker S4 be any good on the cooler?

no probs matey, ive been looking at an A64 setup for months, just need the moolah

don't know much about that fan, but the cooler can fit any 70, 80 or 92mm fan on it - linkage (3rd one down)

Its a very quiet fan i will post the specs of it when I find them.

I've got the Asus board and overall I've been very impressed. It's been very stable, the layout of the board is excellent and the bundle it comes with is first rate.

The only negatives would probably be that I prefer the Abit BIOS and that I'm having trouble charging my iPod via the motherboard's firewire port.

I guess I would also need to buy myself some cables as none of the items come with cables do they, I have had my little shuttle for too long now. I have specced up this system to put it all in.

I got the ASUS board and that CPU, and am using a Zalman cooler that I'm very happy with ... makes for a very, very quiet PC and have no trouble with temps at all.

I run the Asus A8V (both 1.2 and 2.0 rev) and I believe the results speak for themselves. My motherboard is unmodded and my videocard is air cooled. I hold several world records in 3D benchmarks on the Futuremark ORB. 3DMark2001 records include: #1 2900MHz and under, #1 2700MHz and under, #1 2500MHz and under, #2 aircooled videocard on Earth, etc... I have the fastest 100% aircooled system in both 3DMark2001 AND 3DMark03 as well.

The board is rock solid and has everything you could hope for. Hard to argue with those results. I love Asus stuff.
