    Views on this system?

After a fair bit of advice from people on these forums (thanks!) I'm getting ready to order the following system and was wondering if people could give it the once over to see if I've missed out on anything. Muchos Gracias

    Processor: Athlon 64 (s939) 3500+ - £238 - Dabs
    Ram: Corsair TwinX 1024-3200XL Pro - £197 - Microdirect
    Soundcard: Audigy 2 ZS 7.1 - £70 - everywhere!
Motherboard: Asus A8V Deluxe WiFi revised version - £90 - Microdirect
    DVD-RW: NEC 3500A - £56 - Microdirect
    Harddrives - 2xSamsung Serial ATA SpinPoint 160gb - £132 - Microdirect
    Graphics Card - Galaxy Glacier 6800GT - £294 - Microdirect

CPU - it's a Socket 939 Athlon 64 which is fast and should let you stick a new CPU into yor PC in the future.

    RAM - Nice fast Corsair

Graphics card - That's what I would choose - lower cost than the Ultra, but with little performance cost. Although X800s are pretty close, I'd choose the 6800 because of Shader Model 3.0.

    Thumbs up from Mike!

Nice case but power supply is only 380w, albeit a true 380 so will probably be okay. Get the audigy at order247.co.uk, its only £52 there. What speakers were you planning on?

Yea I had the same reservations and asked around on the forum and most people said the 380W with the Sonata will be up to the challenge?

If you can, I'd recommend you avoid Microdirect. Their prices are excellent but there's a reason...

Try phoning their customer service number. It'll ring and ring. Why? Because there's no-one there.

(almost 3 weeks and I'm still waiting for my refund )

The BFG is OC'ed to 370/1000, so is the Galaxy Glacier (I believe), the Glacier also has an Artic Cooler already installed on it (think they're around 15 quid to buy separately) and the BFG isn't in stock. That's the reasoning I used when deciding on the Galaxy Glacier, what do you think 'cos I'm always open to suggestions

    lol...

I never knew the Galaxy Glacier 6800GT was OC'ed, But I'd still prefer the single slot solution of the BFG.... However the Galaxy Glacier will most likly be quieter!

Yea I didnt see the point in buying a quiet case then buying a hoover for a graphics card, otherwise I could've gotten the Gainward golden sample for a tenner more, that's factory guaranteed to 400mhz i think. Thanks for the advice anyway

lol i phoned up to order and waited for 10 minutes listening to the recording before........they cut me off. Fun fun, going to be a long long haul finding comparative prices though, Ebuyer probably but I'll have to wait a couple of weeks for them to get the RAM in stock

I bought that exact same monitor from Microdirect and haven't had a single problem with it. Its the same as ebuyer really, as long as the product works and you don't have a problem then it will be fine
