Asus Optical Out Header

I've got an ASUS A7N8X-E Deluxe MB with a S/PDIF coaxial-out. The coaxial in on amp I'm pluging into seems be a little dodge, but i'm not to sure.

I'm using Doldy Digital 5.1, and every so often the amp will lose the Doldy Digital signal for a few seconds and come back again. The problem could be the mainboard but I'm not too sure. Does anyone know if I can get an optical-out for the asus because I know there is a header on board to plug one into or is there a know problem with the Asus coaxial out?

I have the same board but haven't used the digital coax out on the mobo. Are you sure that everything is connected properly and that you are using a quality cable?

The manual does say something about adding an optical out so I would suggest Asus website for info perhaps or try emailing websites who stock that board.

If it a problem with the board then you will find that a change of output makes no difference. Get the usual stuff like latest drivers etc.
