Problems with new build
Just putting together a new system with a chaintech ZNF3 board and a Sempron 3100. Using the stuff from my old system, DVD writer, 9800pro etc. Decided to do a new install with a new Hard Drive - everything goes well until I get to the windows install part where it says installing new devices - get part way through that and get blue screened and restarted. Any ideas - assume theres a problem with a part and thinking it may be the mobo??

i had that problem when building my comp., i managed to get it to work by changing which DIMM i put the ram in.
using 2 and 4 worked for me.
lets us kno :D

I'll give it a go - its decent 3200 ram but for some reason shows up as running at 333 in bios and doesn't give me the option of running it at 400.

It was a memory problem - wouldn't work with 2x512 sticks of Mushkin 3200 2 2 2, Mushkin 3500 Level II, or some generic. Had a 512mb stick of Crucial standard 2700 and everything works fine. Just trying to decide if Ballistix will be okay.

does your motherboard only support DDR333 RAM?

Its funny - it autodetects the ram speed and runs the 3200 as 2700 and the 3500 as 3200. The bog standard 2700 runs at the right speed. I'll need to check on bios updates for it now its up and running. Impressed with the Sempron though - running at 2ghz and no change in temp at all, decent performance as well.

You do know that the AMD64 754 spec says that running 2x512mb should drop memory speed to 266fsb? I know that you have a Sempron but it is based on the K8 core so it could be related.
