    Athlon 3200+ Barton Core

Hiya haven't been on for a while on account the summer is for car modding so now the computer is getting a little attention. Just upgraded my athlon 3000 barton core to a 3200+ barton core. The new cpu has arrived with a sticker on the top similar to a pricing sticker from a shop. At the top of the sticker in bold VOID IF PEELED. Why is it there? Is it meant to be there? Should i leave it there? Also don't know if anyone knows but when i tried to overclock my old cpu the multiplier was locked so i could only change the FSB which limited its capabilities ever so slightly. If this new CPU is the same is there any way i can unlock the multiplier.

Some of the numbers on the CPU are
    27493
    AXDA3200DKV4E Y32068714555
    AQXCA0410VPZQ

    Any help greatly appreciated

it's fine tbh to put the cooler on they will see that thats why the sticker might be moved a bit.

regards the multi your stuck m8 theres nothing you can do to unlock the chips, you would have been better of getting a mobile xp that are unlocked by default.

I thought there were two points you could connect with electric conduction paint that unlocked them. Wouldn't mind givin this a go if it works. How do they unlock the mobile CPUs

Shame i will try this one with the water cooling i am hoping to get and see how far it will go before the mobo beeps at me. I just thought what would be the sense in putting a sticker on the CPU unless they wanted to stop you doing something like unlocking your multipler.

Just out of interest why did you upgrade from a 3000+ to a 3200+. For the small increase in speed compared to the price wouldn't it have been better for you to save the money for an upgrade in the future?

There are two ways to unlock the CPU multiplier on Barton's as far as I'm aware. I have never had the need to do it myself however. Search the interweb, i.e. Google it.
To err is human. To really foul things up ... you need a computer.
