    Overclocking 3820 - Help

    Hello Guys,

I have been a long time admirer of this site and thought I'd join and get the great advice of you guys. I know alot of people have posted about 3820 overclocking online, and i've read alot about what other people have done so thought I'd ask you guys to be 100% sure about what I am doing/change

My rig is below and the guys I bought it from have OC it to 4.2 by just upping the Turbo boost to 42 and the vocre to 1.355 (roughly sorry not at home) which goes up to 1.37/1.38.

The system works perfectly and gaming/work is blisteringly fast no problems whatsoever!

Basically I know by setting the 125 * 36 gives 4500, but if anyone could give me a set of instructions of what exactly I change I'd be very greatful. I be happy with a 4.4/4.5 OC for me is more then enough.

    CPU: 3820
    Mobo: P9x79 Pro
Ram: Kingston HyperX Genesis (1600mhz dual channel)
    PSU: TX 750
    Graphics: KFA2 670
    Cooler: Alpenfohn K2 Mount Doom

    Thank you so very much!

    Re: Overclocking 3820 - Help

Do you have an after market cooler for the CPU? well if you do I would up it in increments and run prime 95 each time for a while once its all good up it again until you get a BSOD then enter the BIOS again and up the voltage on the RAM and until you have a stable system make sure you run prime95 each time you do this. This is what I did on mine but I am using an H100 Cooler and running my 2500k @ 4.8 ghz and remember, every system is different and there are risks involved in overclocking, you should only overclock your cpu if your system is being bottlenecked by your gpu and you are confidant in doing it.
