    External hard drive caddies....

    Hi,

interested in getting one of these to house my spare 40gig harddrive to backup files easily.

was wondeing if anyone has one and what their experience with it is like, i assume i'll get a USB 2 one so the transfer speeds will be 'ok' and its powered externally right ?

    i've seen this one:

    http://www.megadataonline.co.uk/en/p...&scid=0&pid=37

seems pretty good at under £30 with free delivery, what do you guys reckon ?

then later on i'll get a 200 gig £70 harddrive

Oh and do they need special software and can they be plugged in and out whilst the pc is on ?

    Thanks

Have you had a look at the Icy Boxes? They look quite nice, and are a similar sort of thing.

The icebox uses an external power supply with an average sized power converter too.
