    NCQ Motherboards

    Looking at a Via K8t800Pro m/b with VIa 8237 southbridge.....so built in 2x SATA, and the board also has a Promise 20579 with another 2x SATA. The question is, do either of these SATA controllers support NCQ for Seagate OR WEstern Digital HDD's? Some benchmarks lately have shown that most controllers wont run NCQ on the Western Digital Raptors, and so the Seagates (if NCQ is running) are actually faster.

    Summary: Will the 8237 or Promise 20579 run NCQ with a Raptor or Barracude?

    Failing that, does Nforce 4 suport it (ive read that it does) and are they shipping yet?

    The following link on the seagate website might be of use as this lists all the NCQ supporting add-in cards and also motherboards ;

    This hopefully should be updated soon to include the newer motherboards that are arriving on the market at the present time.

    Hope this information helps
