    Mouse mat for G400

I'm now looking for a relatively small (cloth) mouse mat for use with my Logitech G400, instead of the bare desk/a piece of paper.

    Any of these look good?

Yeah either of those would be great.

You don't like the hard mats?

LOL at the amazon spec to the Razer one: Dimensions 29.2 x 8.3 x 8.5 cm Really? That is one thick mat!!

Pretty sure someone told me (on here) a cloth mat would be good for the g400...

I've never had a mouse mat - not including one on a computer I used as a child...

you might be right, but the other one lists "Product Dimensions: 21 x 0.2 x 25 cm ; 23 g " which if you look at the pictures, the packaged item clearly isn't 2mm thick.

I use the MX518, and have a G400 in its box... must open it. The G400 is basically the new MX518 and the 518 works fine on hard surfaces, only one I've had problem with was a glossy white affair. Not sure why it messed it up, but so long as it's not shiny/glass a hard surface is fine. Works good on mdf etc.

There's nothing wrong with a cloth mat, but a hard mat would be just as good, and also more consistent and harder wearing over time.

Again, any Razer/Steelseries mat would be fine, personally I use a Zowie mat.

So I'm better off getting a hard mat? Would just any do?

    Re: Mouse mat for G400

It's all personal preference really, but a hard mat will be more durable and I personally prefer them.

The only real advantage of a cloth mat imo is that you can roll it up if you need to take it a LAN or something.

It's one of those things where you just have to buy one and see how it goes, luckily mouse mats are pretty cheap compared to most equipment.
I actually bought two and gave the one I didn't like so much to a friend, not that there was much in it.

Does the Razer Sphrex look good? I saw an omega cloth one and got all excited about matching the colour of my keyboard and case lights but I think it might be a soft mat...

I'd give it a go, you can't go wrong for £10.

It is a hard mat really, just a very thin hard mat!

Umm well depends upon your preference. It will feel very similar to using your mouse on your desk, but you will have far superior tracking and more consistent glide.

    Re: Mouse mat for G400

The sphex is literally just a film of hard plastic, that you stick to a desk. I got one a week or so ago, was quite surprised how thin it was XD Still, its been good so far, my mouse glides much easier than on my desk, and at a tenner I dont feel hugely ripped off, unlike with the cloth mats I've had, both of which have lost their surface quality in a matter of months.
