Dell PowerEdge VRTX

I really like these. Suspect price will be a bit over my budget (which currently equals 0, so not hard), but still really like.
Only concern is a common one with this sort of consolidation (eg. Drobo, VMs etc) - if the chassis fails that's a lot of inaccessible storage and servers.
Still want one.

Re: Dell PowerEdge VRTX
Eh? That's gonna be £7-8k easily for that chassis alone...
/EDIT
£8600 ex VAT as reviewed here - I wasn't far off with my estimation!

Re: Dell PowerEdge VRTX
Yep, that's about right. I ain't talking about buying for home use. Nor for some big corporate.

Re: Dell PowerEdge VRTX
so its a 4u blade chassis on its side ? ;) I'd rather use Nutanix or. Intel have had the modular server concept around for a while now.

Re: Dell PowerEdge VRTX
Sort of, 4 blade chassis, a SAN/NAS of sorts, and all the network interconnect in a small, quiet case.
In my opinion it's a little too expensive for some of the SMBs I work with, where about half the cost (ie. less than 5K) would be more appropriate. But then I'm sure there's many more in the M camp where that's not far off about right.

Re: Dell PowerEdge VRTX
Is that not just the chassis? As in need to add blade costs, which probably brings it back up close to that Dell box?
I may be wrong though :)
