Just put together my Haswell rig this weekend without any major drama but I am astonished to find it won't drive my 2560 x 1600 30" Dell 3007-WFP at any more than 1280 x 800 resolution!
The Asus Z87-Pro motherboard offers the following video connections:
VGA 1920 x 1200 @60Hz
DVI 1920 x 1200 @ 60Hz
HDMI 4096 x 2160 @ 24Hz and 2560 x 1600 @ 60HZ
Displayport 4096 x 2160 @ 24Hz and 3840 x 2160 @ 60Hz
The video cable coming out the Dell is Dual Link DVI so I realised I could not connect to the mobo DVI port and get my native resolution. I bought a Dual Link DVI-to-HDMI adapter (Scan LN45576) but I only get 1280 x 800. When I connect to the DVI port I still only get 1280 x 800!! I am using the latest Intel graphics drivers and Windows 8 recognises the Dell monitor. Any ideas or explanations?
I daresay the easiest solution would be to add a discrete card as even a sub-£30 jobbie will give me 2560 x 1600. Although I'm not an avid gamer I don't mind springing for something a little more exotic like an MSI GTX 650 Ti Boost Twin Frozr (Scan LN50189) as I believe Photoshop will happily use 2Gb of GDDR5 and that card is fairly quiet as well. My be quiet! 480W E9 PSU should handle it OK. Is that sensible?
