    Thumbs up Mini-itx Pentium-M

    http://www.epiacenter.com/modules.ph...rder=0&thold=0

The Thunderbird is a compact, highly integrated low-power PC motherboard, build according to the Mini-ITX form factor. The processor is the Intel Pentium M (Banias) processor running at 1600+ MHz. It features Intel Extreme Graphics 2 and dual independent displays. LCD screens can be connected with dual channel LVDS. Standard PC interfaces and two Ethernet ports (1000BaseT, 10/100BaseT) provide very good connectivity. The system can be expanded by Mini PCI slot as well as a standard PCI slot. With a wireless LAN interface the Thunderbird is even Centrino™ technology compliant. The Thunderbird is intended for OEMs providing gaming, entertainment, and all other kinds of high performance embedded PC solutions.
i've read that the 1500mhz Pentium-M Banias 1500 seti unit time is 2h19 ! so it's one fast chip

the pentium-m's got a 1mb cache, and uses much much less power than P4 chips, so this pentium-m system could be passively cooled. i think the pentium-m 1.5ghz is faster (or the same performance) as a 2.2ghz pentium 4-m

We've got 3 pentium-M 1.4s in service here (Dell Latitude D600s) and they widdle on 2GHz P4s for performance (plus the machines are small and light); they run very cool and the power consumption is phenomenally low. With a secondary drive bay battery, we've got one guy putting in 7 hours straight between charges.

Makes u wonder y we havnt had better chips at lower mhz though?
Look at the Tuatualin cpu, whupped the AMD 1.4 TBird but was late n limited supply.
Bring on the AMD64 with 2mb full speed cache!
