Sharp Actius MM1110
Hi there,
Got a question for the more budding of you all today. :)
Got a mate, from uni, that is looking for a small and lightweight laptop. Hes not looking for much. All he needs is a couple of compilers and maybe at a push some music (although the laptop is really just for doing uni work on).
The laptop he has his eyes on is a Sharp Actius MM1110
Will this be up to the job?
Below is the pasted note from my friend:
can you do me a favour and ask your Hexus friends if any of them know any thing about a Sharp Actius MM1110, like would it run java compiler etc. I know its not for playing games or that but it only weights 0.9kg and it aint for a desktop replacement.
All I need to know is... Will it runa a java compiler? Can I upgrade to XP pro? and just how good/bad the graphics are for 2D work?
Cheers!

Worth bearing in mind that in this case unless your mate wants to connect the laptop to a domain (NT/2K/2K3 network, or maybe Samba servers emulating same) then an upgrade to Pro would be utterly pointless on that machine. SMP support is irrelevant, so's RAID support, encryption could be better provided (and more cheaply) via a 3rd party product like PGP. Spend the money on a bit more memory instead, if you can upgrade it.
