    Subject: AGP settings

After I installed coolbits2.reg I could access my AGP setting on my graphics card and the “Max AGP rate” is worrying me!!!

    I have a

    ASUS P4P800 latest bios
    P4 3.0GHZ latest chipset
    1024 RAM
    480WATT PSU
PNY 6800 ULTRA 256MB(new latest bios after a lot MORE of restarts) Power cables set up as directed by NVIDIA

    WINDOWS XP PRO SP2

    GPU CHIPSET OS OPTIMAL

    MAX AGP RATE 8X 8X 2X 8X

This is worrying me as my system restarts a little still (not a temperature/ventilation problem) and when its stable eg play DOOM 3 my fps are slow in bench test I need this solved.

I have searched the internet and no one actually has a way of solving please help!!!!

    Many Thanks

    Mike Gleed

    Dear Michael,

Those settings look normal, when your in the Windows desktop the card drops back to AGP 2x, simply no need for it to run faster.

So what your saying is when you run an 3d application i.e. Doom3 the AGP setting goes up to 8x?

Cause on my desktop here at work its saying 4x on the desktop?

    Dear Michael,

Exactly so, Windows default setting for the desktop would be 2x but as this is a high spec card it may not drop down that low so it goes at 4x.

You miss understand my home computer with the 6800 ultra is 2x in OS

But this computer with the rubbish Geforce 2 in says 4x in OS.

Put this email around your colleagues cause I am stumped!
