    much real differences from...

    Hi,

Currently have an Athlon XP 2100 @ 2.2 / 2.3 ghz and runs fine...

    Would an Athlon Barton Mobile 2500 @ 2.5 / 2.6 ?? ghz be a lot quicker ?

or just no point or hassle ??

    Thanks

I'd save your money, i just couldn't justify spending money on a Socket A processor for my main PC, it's a dying Socket.

That processor you have at present is doing a fine job, so I wouldn't change just yet unless you were not planning to upgrade for a long time.

Save your money mate, nothing in 200/300 mhz. Socket A is getting a bit dated now i'd save up to change.

Same advice here, save your money untill you can affoard a AMD 64, as thoose prices will also be coming down and per the usual. Maybe then there will be more 64 enabled apps and games etc so the upgrade will be light years better for you.

    hmm thanks...

so even the extra cache plus a few hundred mhz won't be that much real life difference, as i might be able to get the chip for fairly cheap in exchange...

probably not worth the hassle then..
