problem with my monitor ?

i just bought a 19" mon from ebuyer
and ive just noticed that when i look carefully.
i can see a kinda wobble..
kinda like a very hot day when you look down the road and ya see the heat off the tar mac

is that a fault.or is it just a crap monitor.
its unbranded and i paid £120 for it

nope no mobile phone near.
and im running 1280 x 1024 85 hz
and its the same at 1152 85 hz and again at 1024 85 hz & 100 hz

Also, could your cable to your monitor be picking up any EMI from anything about ?

i could use 75hz but thats besides the point,
this is a new monitor,and i shouldnt realy avoid the problem by going at a lower hz.

75hz was a bit better though

Well that monitor should be able to run at 1280 * 1024 no problem, i'd check for EMI like Agent said, if thats not causing it get in the RMA que!

I'm not totally sure if you did get another one it would be any different though, but i cant see how bad it is so that doesn't help
Thats quite cheap for a 19" monitor, and corners will be cut in some places to get it at that price.
Check to see if you have an option for "MOIRE Canceller" - that may help it a little.

You could try a RMA - but don't be upset if you got one the same.

so thats not an option..

Looking at it on ebuyer it says 1600 * 1200 @ 85hz, so 1280 *1024 @ 85hz shouldn't be a problem for it even though its cheap.

This the same as the PC2700 RAM that will barly reach PC2100 half the time ? :S
Its a cheap monitor - the manufactures are going to blow the specs out of proportion to sell them.

I said RMA, not return because you dont like it

An RMA will allow you to get another one, because the one you have is faulty.
You can also send it back under the 7 day "cooling off" period if it annoys you that much without any penility

do u have any type of desktop lamp near it which would happen to be turned on when this wobble affects the screen?

the reason i ask is that i had a very similar problem on my lg flatron which battered my brain for a few hours till i noticed that when the light was turned off the wobble dissapeared!

its just a thought,but the problem ure reporting definately sounds like some sort of interferance!

I assume you've tried degaussing it?
And checking for moire as was mentioned? Make sure the moire setting is at zero.
