do you have anti-virus software installed? if not www.grisoft.com do some free stuff, very good, do an update then scan.

also, try http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com and see if there are any critical updates available.

    what OS? what programs running?

if you right click on the task bar, go to task manager, see what programs are running, and look at the processes - you can sort it by CPU usage, see if you can see what process is using the highest CPU time...

from what i can find in a google search, yes you could have the MSBlast or Welchia worm. you will need up to date a/v software to scan your computer and it should tell you for definite if you have a virus or not.

    to find welchia:
    http://securityresponse.symantec.com...oval.tool.html
    to find msblast:
    http://securityresponse.symantec.com...oval.tool.html

just for some free anti-virus software : AVG Anti Virus:
    www.grisoft.com

very good easy to use, keeps itself uptodate. good idea to have it on your pc whether you've got a virus or not. should also find blast/welchia if you update it after installing

    you need to run this:
    http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/FixWelch.exe
    and then run this:
    http://securityresponse.symantec.com...r/FixBlast.exe

just to be on the safe side
