Built new computer - problems
Right.
I built a computer with an AMD 8350 cpu and gtx 770 graphics card. It's running extremely slow, the HD is extremely hot, could that be the issue? also the motherboard im using is n68 vs3 fx which supports 8 core cpu's but doesnt say if it supports a 150w cpu could the cpu be the problem? as it's 150w and the mobo is 95w? also in windows, i have about 3 windows old folders, could that be slowing it?
many thanks
Re: Built new computer - problems
Well you have a low end Motherboard and I'm surprised that your motherboard is not just turning it self of due to high temps on VRM's. So it's more then likely to have undercloked its self. An slow performance can be easily fixed with a SSD
Re: Built new computer - problems
If that was the case, why does the mobo box say it supports 8 core cpu's?
Re: Built new computer - problems
Because Mine did as well I used to have a FX8350 along with an ASRock Pro3 and it had to be under-clocked and I mean seriously under-clocked to work at all. Took me ages to figure out why it turned off randomly and blue screened etc. That's most likely the same issue as you have. Also my motherboard said 8 core compatible. Turn it on for a bit do something like Prime95 then turn off and touch the VRM's if you do not know what they are i have highlighted the bits to touch.

Why didn't you just do a complete format ? When ever I (and probably everyone else) build a new system we start from a clean slate not just slap windows on top of another windows. I would do a complete format of the hdd and install a fresh copy of windows as the old windows you had on there is still there, the more files you have on the hdd the longer it takes for the pc to read all the information which in turn can slow down your system. Try what I have said and let us know how it turns out, also what type of case do you have what PSU do you have etc... try and give us a full description of all hardware in your system as well as this will make things easier for us to assist you.
Re: Built new computer - problems
That motherboard is the issue IMHO,as someone else on OcUK used a low end motherboard and had performance problems. When they changed over to a better motherboard their issues disappeared. Also, what PSU do you have BTW??
Re: Built new computer - problems
Aye.MoBo can make all the difference (FM2 BioStar A55 vs. AsRock A55 for me recently, thanks to eBuyer all is sorted now).
Re: Built new computer - problems
It's probably the motherboard if it says it only supports 95w cpus and the 8350 is not listed as a supported cpu. There is a 95w 8 core fx chip (the 8300) but it seems hard to get hold of.
Re: Built new computer - problems
Just because something is compatible, doesn't mean it's made for it.

No, but it is expected to work!
Re: Built new computer - problems
Your board doesn't say it supports that CPU, it supports other models of the FX series but not that specific model. Its only a 95W board so I am not surprised.
Like everyone else has mentioned, I'd turn it off and request a return for the board and buy a new one.
After all, if things go wrong and you burn out the socket it's unlikely your warranty will cover it

Yeah, maybe with a low power 8 core which is horrible, you should know that people/companies like to scam people in every possible way.
Re: Built new computer - problems
Well, scam. The motherboard DOES support 8 core CPUs, but not models with that high TDP.
Joining the rest of the suggestions, turn it off before you burn it, return and buy a new/different motherboard.
Re: Built new computer - problems
Hi all,
Just to confirm what the other are saying, with official info. The link below states up to 95W CPU support (which is the case with all historic and current N68-based Asrock boards):
http://www.asrock.com/mb/NVIDIA/N68-...Specifications
The link below confirms your CPU is 125W.
http://www.amd.com/uk/products/deskt...omparison.aspx
Your Mobo is throttling to prevent itself from burning out! Stop using this Mobo / CPU combination. There are NOT compatible! Asrock are not lying, in that there are 8-core CPUs that are compatible, namely the 8120, 8140 or 8300 - the 95W variants.
Re: Built new computer - problems
I think the point has been made that the motherboard is not fit for the processor now.

dangerous advice imo.
